Braves are Taking Care of Employees

Major League Baseball season may not be starting any time soon, but the Atlanta Braves are still determined to treat their full-time and part-time employees right. What other way to ensure that the next season will be the best one yet?

Sources: the Atlanta Braves notified their full-time and part-time employees yesterday that they would be paid through May 31. They are the first known MLB club to give their employees assurances beyond the end of April or beginning of May.

In mid-March, each club made a $1 million pledge to their staff. All 30 teams in MLB have committed to paying their staff through the end of April – but the Braves are the first to extend those payments through May, ensuring the well-being of their staff for an even more comfortable period of time during a period of widespread uncertainty.

Mike Evans Donated $100,000 to Coronavirus Relief Efforts

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans has donating $100,000 through his Mike Evans Family Foundation to various coronavirus relief efforts. $50,000 will be donated to the United Way Suncoast, which is working to help people locally in Bay area. The other $50,000 is going to a charity serving Evans' hometown of Galveston, Texas. Their outreach has made it across 31,000 households already.

In Massachusetts, bureaucracy is meeting other industries halfway to join efforts against the pandemic. And the NFL's New England Patriots are there to answer the call for cooperation. Patriots owner Robert Kraft is sending the team's Boeing 757 to bring more than 1,000,000 N95 masks back from China.

But Kraft and the Super Bowl legend Patriots went even one step farther: they picked up an additional 300,000 for delivery to New York, just because they could.

According to Kraft, getting the supplies on the plane and back to the states was “probably the most challenging operation our organization and team ever had to do,” as he relayed to CNN Thursday night.

“There was a lot of red tape, but a lot of people cooperated,” he said. “We had three governors. We had a counsel from China, our crew who flew probably more hours than they should have, but they knew how important it was. And, you know, it’s just — it’s like doing your job and never taking time off when something’s really important.”
