Get to the back of the line – Conor McGregor told by UFC champ he needs to prove himself again

Conor McGregor has stayed in the headlines, despite his defeat in the lightweight title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018. The two have a heated rivalry, but it doesn’t look like the Irishman is going to get a shot at redemption any time soon. If McGregor wants to fight for the title again, he’s told he has to get to the back of the line.

Not Interested

Khabib Nurmagomedov has an unprecedented unbeaten record in mixed martial arts, and there was nothing Conor McGregor could do to stop him during their fight in October 2018. That fight marked McGregor’s return to the UFC following his money-making fight against boxer Floyd Mayweather. It means that it has been quite a while since the Irish fighter has won a bout as that Mayweather fight happened in 2017. Russian fighter Nurmagomedov says he is not interested in fighting “a guy who never wins.”

McGregor Is Game

While the Russian is not interested in fighting Conor McGregor, the Irishman is very much up for the fight. When the two collided in the ring they made box office records, and it seems even if he doesn’t win, McGregor would be interested in making a ton of cash once again. Money is not the motivator for Nurmagomedov though, and he says he wants to fight the ‘real guys’ in his division.

Go On A Tear

The only way Nurmagomedov seems interested in fighting Conor McGregor is if he can go on a nine or ten win streak. It might be taken out of Nurmagomedov’s hands if UFC matchmaker Dana White decides to book the fight.

However, the Russian fighter will still have to agree to take the bout and become part of the circus that is a Conor McGregor fight. This ultimate fighter needs to step up his game if he wants to get back in the ring.
