J.J. McCarthy of the Wolverines has gotten emotional after quite a few games. However, his display of emotion after the Rose Bowl was quite different than that of previous games. For once, McCarthy got to weep tears of joy rather than sadness, as the Wolverines had their first win in what felt like an eternity.
The Game
Michigan celebrated a 27–20 overtime victory against Alabama, after previously suffering two huge defeats. As offensive lineman Trevor Keegan said, “We had a lot of mistakes. Shoot, we didn’t really deserve a win but you know our guys—we pulled through and we just played for each other.”
McCarthy’s Emotions
McCarthy expressed his joy by saying, “It’s indescribable just because the last two years, being able to watch the opposing team celebrate, it’s just different when I see the maize and blue confetti on the field.”
He continued, “I’m nothing without this head coach [Jim Harbaugh], nothing without my teammates, nothing without that defense. Everything was so amazing. It’s just really, really amazing.”
Gerard Pique Reached High Levels of Pettiness After He and Shakira Broke Up
People on social media are going crazy over the whole conflict between former FC Barcelona center-back Gerard Pique and Shakira. In June 2022, she announced her split from Pique. While the statement didn’t have any information about the reasons, fans believed that she hinted there was trouble brewing in her song “Te Felicito,” with Rauw Alejandro.
Shakira’s Response: A Diss Track
Shakira responded to the breakup in the best possible way that a musician knows: with a diss track. The video broke Latin YouTube viewing records by being viewed more than 63 million times in a single day. Pique’s response to the diss track was absolutely hilarious.
In the diss track, Shakira sings about Gerard Pique’s new partner, who is in her 20s. One of the verses of the song reads: “Zero grudge baby, I wish you good luck with my supposed replacement, I don’t even know what happened to you. You’re so weird I can’t even recognize you. I’m worth two of 22 [year old].” She also sang that Gerard traded a Ferrari for a Twing, and a Rolex for a Casio.
A Win-Win for Gerard Pique
In a Twitch stream, the soccer player said that he has a closed agreement with Renault so he now drives a Twingo. He also addressed his wearing of a Casio watch and that he reached another agreement with the watch company to sponsor his Kings League. According to him, Casio is a great watch that can last a lifetime. A global Twitter account related to soccer news tweeted that his level of pettiness was absolutely incredible.
People have different opinions about the whole saga. One user responded that Gerard Pique was petty, another one tweeted that he was shameless, and a third one commented that he was a clown as a soccer player and now had become a clown as a person. Truth is, both Shakira and Pique are making money and getting sponsorship deals while people are commenting.
